Fulfilment storage

Ecommerce Storage & Warehousing UK

Storeship provides flexible ecommerce storage and warehousing that connects straight to pick, pack and ship. You send us your stock, we store it securely in the UK, and we get it out to your customers as orders arrive. It is storage built around order turnover, not a warehouse you rent by the pallet and manage yourself.

The rate is published. Storage starts from £0.005 per item, per week, charged by item size and billed weekly against the stock you actually hold, with no minimum order or stock requirements and no account or service fees. Use the storage calculator on this page for an instant estimate, or get a free quote tailored to your stock.

Storeship has been independently owned and operated since 2009, storing and fulfilling for over 700 UK and international ecommerce sellers. Find out more on our About Storeship page.

What is ecommerce storage?

Ecommerce storage, sometimes called ecommerce warehousing or fulfilment storage, means holding an online seller's stock in a warehouse so it can be picked, packed and shipped as orders come in. The terms get used interchangeably, but there is a useful distinction worth drawing before you choose a provider.

Bulk warehousing is built for holding goods over long periods, with stock moving in and out infrequently. Ecommerce storage is built around order turnover: stock arrives, sits for as long as it needs to, and leaves in individual customer orders on a continuous basis. A fulfilment centre is the wider operation that storage sits inside, adding the picking, packing and shipping on top.

Storeship's storage is the second kind. Your stock is held ready to fulfil, with real-time visibility of what you have, and it feeds directly into order processing rather than sitting in isolation.

Product size Maximum dimensions Maximum weight
Micro product 24 x 16 x 0.5 cm 100 g
Large letter 35 x 25 x 2.5 cm 750 g
Small parcel 35 x 25 x 16 cm 2 kg
Medium parcel 45 x 35 x 16 cm 2 kg
Large parcel 61 x 46 x 46 cm 17 kg

Larger volumes and long-term storage attract discounts, including pallet storage and container storage for bulk consignments. Storage is one line on a fully itemised quote. Onward fulfilment is costed separately, with pick and pack from £0.50 per order and shipping from 75p at discounted carrier rates. You can see the full breakdown on our fulfilment pricing page.

What running your own warehouse actually costs

Storing stock yourself is rarely just the cost of the space. Running a warehouse means carrying a set of fixed overheads before a single order ships:

Running it yourself Using Storeship
Premises Lease or mortgage, business rates, service charges None required
Fit-out Racking, shelving, goods-in areas Included
Handling equipment Forklifts, pallet trucks, trolleys Included
Staff Hire, train and manage warehouse staff Included
Hardware Scanners, label printers, computers Included
Software Licence and run stock management software Free, Included
Utilities and security Electricity, heating, insurance, security Included
Pricing model Fixed overheads regardless of volume Pay-as-you-go, from £0.005 per item per week

Outsourcing is not the right call for everyone. A business already running a fully equipped warehouse efficiently may not save money by moving, and large, bulky, or specialist-storage goods such as temperature-controlled or hazardous items may not suit a general fulfilment warehouse. For most growing ecommerce sellers, though, the overheads above add up faster than per-item storage, and the time spent managing a stockroom is time not spent on sourcing, marketing and growth.

What Storeship's storage includes

Storage with Storeship covers more than shelf space:

UK and EU storage

Storeship stores stock in Nottingham, UK, a central location with good UK-wide carrier access and a container unloading bay for bulk goods-in.

Storeship also holds stock in Alicante, Spain, on a limited basis for selected clients, giving qualifying sellers a way to change their customs position for EU orders. Holding stock inside the EU means importing it once in bulk, then fulfilling EU orders domestically rather than shipping each parcel across the border. Availability is currently limited by demand, so get in touch to check whether Spain fulfilment is open for your account.

That matters more since a recent change to EU customs rules. From 1 July 2026, the EU replaced its long-standing duty-free exemption for consignments under €150 with a temporary flat customs duty of €3 per item, charged by tariff (HS-code) line rather than per parcel, and running until 1 July 2028. It applies to low-value goods imported into the EU from outside the bloc, including from the UK, and sits on top of import VAT rather than replacing it. Full detail is on the European Commission's guidance on the temporary flat fee. Fulfilling EU orders from an EU warehouse avoids this per-parcel duty on those orders, because the stock crosses into the EU once in bulk, not order by order. See our EU fulfilment page for more.

Frequently asked questions

How is ecommerce storage priced?

Per item, per week, from £0.005 per item, charged by item size and billed weekly against the stock you actually hold. There are no minimums and no account or service fees.

Is there a minimum amount of stock I have to store?

No. Storeship operates pay-as-you-go with no minimum order or stock requirements, so you only pay for what you store.

Can I store on pallets or by container as well as per item?

Yes. Alongside per-item shelved storage, we offer pallet storage and container storage, with discounts for larger and long-term volumes.

How quickly is my stock available once it arrives?

Stock is booked in on receipt, typically within around 24 hours, and is ready to fulfil as soon as it is checked into the system.

Can I see my stock levels in real time?

Yes. The free fulfilment software gives you 24/7 visibility of stock, orders and reporting, with no manual entry needed once your sales channels are connected.

Do you store and fulfil, or just store?

Both. Storage feeds straight into pick, pack and ship, so the same stock you store with us is fulfilled from one place rather than moved to a separate provider.

Is my stock secure, and what happens if something is damaged?

Stock is held securely, and every order is scanned at pick and pack and check-weighed, with photographic evidence of the packed parcel, giving you a clear record if a customer disputes what they received.

Do you offer discounts on storage

Yes, for customers with large volumes of goods and quick moving stock we can apply additional discounts to their base storage rates.
